Reno Omokri: The Poster Child of Political Duplicity and Dishonest Propaganda

Few figures in Nigerian public life embody contradiction, manipulation, and opportunism as brazenly as Reno Omokri. A man who parades himself as a pastor, activist, and moralist, Reno has instead become a textbook example of how influence can be used to mislead, deceive, and distort the public consciousness. His track record of dishonesty, flagrant self-contradiction, and opportunistic propaganda exposes him not as a voice of conscience, but as a dangerous opportunist willing to peddle lies for relevance.

Some of the glaring examples of Reno Omokri’s hypocrisy, lies, and propaganda are highlighted with receipts included:

1. “Jonathan built all Nigeria’s railways.” – False

Reno has repeatedly claimed former President Goodluck Jonathan built Nigeria’s railway system from scratch. In reality, Jonathan continued some rail projects, but many of these were initiated under previous administrations, including Olusegun Obasanjo’s, and most were not completed until the Buhari era. Reno’s attempt to rewrite history is pure propaganda.

2. “Tinubu is dying and unfit to lead Nigeria.” → Now: “Tinubu deserves a chance.”

Omokri was one of the loudest voices attacking Bola Tinubu’s health and moral character before the 2023 elections. He said Nigerians would regret voting for him. Post-election, he began defending Tinubu’s policy moves and even chided Nigerians for criticizing the president too harshly. This isn’t growth—it’s convenient amnesia.

3. “Peter Obi invested Anambra’s money and made billions.” – Misleading

Reno claimed that Peter Obi turned Anambra state funds into a multi-billion-dollar investment portfolio. Investigations revealed that the investments either lost value or were grossly overstated. Yet Reno promoted this myth to bolster a political narrative—facts be damned.

4. “I don’t attack people personally.” – Lie

Despite claiming to uphold civility, Reno constantly launches deeply personal attacks—mocking people’s health (e.g., Tinubu), physical appearance, and private lives. His weaponization of insults, especially toward political opponents, betrays his own professed standards of decency.

5. “I am not a tribalist.” – Contradicted by posts

While claiming to be pan-Nigerian and post-ethnic, Omokri has shared posts subtly suggesting Northern superiority or mocking the South-East, depending on what narrative suits him politically. His tribal comments often go unacknowledged or are deleted after backlash.

6. “Buhari is dead; Nigeria is being ruled by Jubril from Sudan.” – Conspiracy peddling

Omokri amplified and entertained one of the most absurd conspiracies in Nigerian political history: that President Buhari had died and was replaced by a Sudanese imposter. As a supposed thought leader, amplifying such nonsense was deeply irresponsible.

7. “Atiku will save Nigeria.” – Uncritical worship

Reno has whitewashed Atiku Abubakar’s controversial past, including well-documented corruption allegations, while branding him Nigeria’s savior. His blind loyalty to Atiku is rooted not in principle, but in his allegiance to the PDP—a party Reno defends even when it mirrors APC misdeeds.

8. “I live a humble, modest life.” – Contradicted by lifestyle

While preaching minimalism and humility, Omokri frequently flaunts luxurious travel, designer fashion, and jet-setting around the globe, often while moralizing to struggling Nigerians. His sermons on frugality are laughably at odds with his Instagram lifestyle.

9. “I’m a pastor and man of God.” – Then promotes lies and hate

Reno uses Bible verses to cloak political agendas, invoking God to justify propaganda, tribal bias, and outright dishonesty. He has also threatened critics online and demeaned women—all unbecoming of any religious title he claims.

10. “I don’t block critics; I debate ideas.” – False

Despite branding himself as open to dialogue, Reno is notorious for blocking critics en masse on social media. Many Nigerians have even coined the phrase “Blocked by Reno” as a badge of honor. He silences dissent not through reason, but censorship.

Reno Omkri: A Wolf in Preacher’s Clothing

Reno Omokri is not just a hypocrite—he is a sophisticated manipulator who wraps deception in scripture, politics in piety, and propaganda in motivational talk. For a man who claims to defend truth and justice, he has become a monument to contradiction. In a country desperate for principled voices, Reno Omokri is a cautionary tale of what happens when influence is divorced from integrity.
